On April 7, KEPCO E&C held the signing ceremony to form a Korean consortium for joint internal research of the 3-stage OECD/NEA ATLAS at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI).

Attending the ceremony included Kim Shin-hwan, Director of NSSS Division at KEPCO E&C, and representatives from five institutions (Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, KAERI, KEPCO NF, and Doosan Heavy Industry & Construction) that signed the agreement.

The agreement stipulates payment of the contribution of each participating agency and the sharing of the deliverables of the Advanced Thermal-Hydraulic Test Loop for Accident Simulation (ATLAS) project that KAERI will conduct until December 2024.

Participating institutions also plan to improve safety analysis technology by performing the computer code analysis of ATLAS experiments to be carried out in this three-stage joint international research.

KEPCO E&C plans to continue improving the safety analysis technology and enhancing the company’s public status through the joint international ATLAS research.
