KEPCO E&C signed an EPC agreement for the construction of the Ariul Offshore Wind Farm on May 27 at its Gimcheon headquarters.
With energy production output of 100 MW, the farm will be located on a 0.409㎢ zone near Saemangeum in Gimje City, Jeollabuk-do. The project will cost around KRW 500 billion, and it will be managed by Zeta E&D (Inc).
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023, with completion targeted for 2025.
A consortium consisting of KEPCO E&C, LT Sambo, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company, and Hankook Technology will be responsible for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) part of the project.
Offshore wind power generation is a core project of the government's Green New Deal and Carbon New Deal programs. As the construction of offshore power plants grows in scale, the size of the market is expected to reach about KRW 100 trillion in the coming years.
With the conclusion of this agreement, KEPCO E&C will be able to meet the targets of the government's Green New Deal program successfully and lay the foundation for expanding the supply of renewable energies. The agreement is also expected to contribute to improving the technological competitiveness of offshore wind power generation projects and expanding the market for wind power.
