Nuclear power plant overview
KEPCO E&C, which makes safe design of nuclear power plants a top priority, has standardized the design for 1,000MWe Korean nuclear power plant(OPR1000), starting with designing Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant Units 3,4. Subsequently, we have developed 1,400MWe new light water reactor design technology(APR1400) to significantly improve the safety and economic viability of nuclear power plants. In particular, we have proved our original design technology home and abroad by exporting commercial nuclear power plants to the UAE for the first time in the Middle East.
We are also making various efforts to ensure that nuclear energy becomes a sustainable and reliable power generation source by developing reactors for export purposes that reflect the latest EUR(European Utility Requirements), new nuclear power plants such as SMR(Small Modular Reactor), and nuclear fusion technology regarded as eco-friendly future energy; and by establishing accident management plans for safe nuclear power plant operations.
In particular, we possess design capabilities for the full life cycle of nuclear power plants, enabling us to expand our business areas by conducting decommissioning projects following the permanent shutdown of NPPs, and back-end nuclear cycle projects for the safe disposal of spent nuclear fuel.
